The New Covenant and the Punishment to Come

Under the Old Covenant, if you disobeyed the law of Moses you were in danger of being punished by God. Under the New Covenant, if you disobey Jesus, are you in danger of being punished by God?

"So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves" (1 Cor 11:27-29).

"Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?" (2 Cor 13:5)

We are repeatedly told to examine ourselves.

So how do I examine myself? See here.

If you call yourself a Christian, but live in sin, don’t imagine for a moment that you will escape the punishment to come.
