Children usually anticipate good things happening when they are with their friends. It’s this anticipation, this hope, that usually causes a friendship to develop.
God wants to be your friend. But in order for the friendship to develop, you must anticipate good things happening if you come close to God.
“...without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Heb 11:6).
So how does a person come closer to God? There’s only one way to come closer to God, and that is by trusting him.
